In Fantasy Magazine Interview, Gregory Banks Discusses Disability in Fantasy and Science Fiction PDF Print E-mail
What's New?

July 6, 2008 - Stockbridge, GA. In an interview for Fantasy Magazine, author Gregory Bernard Banks discusses the portrayal of disability in Fantasy and Science Fiction.

Gregory Bernard Banks, author and publisher, was recently interviewed for Fantasy Magazine (http://www.darkfantasy.org/) to discuss the portrayal of disability in the genres of Fantasy and Science Fiction.

In the interview, when asked if the challenges faced when writing and selling stories featuring disabled characters is the same as writing minority characters, Banks says: “I think a great story is a great story. In this day and time people will read great stories about great characters, be they people of color, disabled, female, gay, or whatever. Yes there are those who fiercely hold on to their narrow visions of the world, but for the most part, I think the vast majority of the reading public is ready to get to know people of different backgrounds and culture and see how different (or even more importantly, how much alike) we all are.”

Banks’ latest release, Phoenix Tales: Stories of Death & Life (Second Edition), is available from Amazon, Barnes & Noble online, and other Internet retailers worldwide. WheelMan Press Uncovers Diary of Extraterrestrial PDF Print E-mail
What's New?

June 18, 2008 - Stockbridge, GA. WheelMan Press discovers a diary reportedly written by an extraterrestrial visitor to earth.

In an astounding bit of news, small press publisher WheelMan Press announced today that it has discovered a multi-volume diary purportedly written by an extraterrestrial visitor to the planet earth.

The diary, found buried in a trunk in the backyard of a Stockbridge, Georgia residence, contains the writings of a being by the name of Savan, from a galaxy “far beyond those discovered by humans so far.” The diary, beginning in 1947 and ending just two years ago, describes the life and times of Savan in his nearly 60-year study of Earth and its culture. Although skeptics, including a spokesperson from NASA, has shown no interest in the claims, Gregory Banks, owner of WheelMan Press, says that “extensive” research went into verifying the authenticity of the diary, including at least 20 minutes of flipping through a few of the volumes, after which Banks declared “yep, it’s real, or at least close enough.”

After going through the diary and compiling the 42 volume set into a novelized form of the ET’s experiences, WheelMan Press plans to first release the diary a chapter at a time via its newly created blog at www.DiaryofanET.com. Banks says that what people learn from the diary will at times be shocking, and at other times finally make sense of some of the most puzzling and unexplained phenomenon of the past 60 years. “Savan’s story is so brilliant that no one (besides yours truly) could make up anything this good.”

What's New?

Because of the fervor over the new e-reader, the Amazon Kindle, and the new market it's opening up to all small press publishers, we are in the process of porting our titles over to the Kindle. Not only are three of our books, Phoenix Tales: Stories of Death & Life (Second Edition), A Writer's Journey in Poetry & Prose, and An Interview with Santa and Other Christmas Treats.

In addition, we've launched a brand new series of articles called "Rantings of a Hard-Working Writer," in which author Gregory Banks discusses the trails and tribulations of being a writer, author and publisher, and explains why the attitudes of some of today's newbie writers makes his "biscuits burn and his blood boil."

If you haven't checked it out yet, we highly recommend that you check out the Amazon Kindle, if not as a potential buyer, then definitely as a potential new market for your works.
