A year or so ago I came up with an idea for a novel which blurs the lines between the scientific and supernatural, that deals with the battle of science versus religion in a unique and entertaining way. In "The Highest Curse," one brother finds his lifelong faith put to the ultimate test, while the other may have to rediscover his long lost faith in order to survive the terrifying secrets that lurk at the heart of a mystery that dates back over 2,000 years.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

January 11, 2008 - Stockbridge, GA. WheelMan Press to release to second edition of its award finalist collection —Phoenix Tales: Stories of Death & Life (978-0-6151-8646-7, Trade paperback, 280 pp, 6 x 9, $17.95).

WheelMan Press announces that it will release a second edition of Phoenix Tales: Stories of Death & Life, the highly acclaimed short story collection from Gregory Bernard Banks, originally published in March 2005. The revised and expanded second edition of this collection will be released April 14th of this year.

With four brand new stories, the collection is once again poised to garner much acclaim for the author, whose publishing credits include The Rose & Thorn, Story House, Creative Brother's Sci-Fi Magazine, The Writers Post Journal, AlienSkin Magazine, The Speculative Fiction Centre, Amazon Shorts, and Axxon Online.

Phoenix Tales: Stories of Death & Life contains notable tales such as the L. Ron Hubbard Writer’s of the Future Contest Quarter-finalist “Kachina Dawn,” about a Hopi man who leaves his village to find his purpose in life, but returns with a terrifying secret that could destroy his world. In addition, there is the Writer’s of the Future Contest Semi-finalist “Avatar,” about a disabled man who seeks to escape his frail body, but learns that one’s Fate is much harder to elude.

Asked why he decided to publish an expanded second edition, the author said: “I left the goals I had for the original book unfinished. I felt that both the design and promotion fell short of my own expectations. Being wiser, more experienced, and more determined than ever, this time I’m going to do all I can to get the word out and prove to myself that I can make this book a true commercial success.”

Phoenix Tales: Stories of Death & Life, Second Edition will be available through distributors Ingram, Baker & Taylor, Lulu.com, and from most major bookstores worldwide. To contact the author, you may send him an email at press@wheelmansplace.com.
